Trash Collection Guidelines

Manti City requests your assistance in making trash collection more.

Please follow these guidelines:

1. The amount of trash we generate is getting larger and it is necessary to start picking it up earlier. On collection day (Tuesday for the south part of town and Wednesday for the north), have the can out by 7:00 a.m. to insure that you don’t get missed.

2. Place the can so it sits on the edge of road adjacent to and touching the pavement, not on the pavement. The truck will not leave the pavement to pick up a can. The truck is heavy and could break away the edge of the pavement if it were to go off the pavement to pick up a can.

City Recycling Yard

The Manti City recycling yard is currently open to Manti residents for the disposal of yard wastes consisting of tree limbs, grass, leaves, etc. No other materials may be left.

We have had problems in the past with unauthorized dumping of non-yard waste and construction demolition materials. This unauthorized dumping has resulted in considerable expense to the city and the closing of the yard. Anyone caught dumping unauthorized materials may be prosecuted.

Main Street Enhancement

The UDOT Enhancement Advisory Committee has completed the ranking of project applications for the 2004-2005 Transportation Enhancement funds and Manti’s Project for Main Street was accepted in the amount of $500,000! A brief project description follows:

Manti enjoys a unique position in Sanpete County. The Manti Utah Temple, circa 1879, stands as a beautiful sentry at the entrance to this lovely Pioneer town settled in 1849. The historic temple, our greatest asset makes Manti a key destination for visitors to Sanpete County. Manti is Sanpete's county seat and should set a high standard for visitors to the area. These two facts make Manti the center of the heart of Utah.

Manti High School Graduation Celebration

In the March 17 City Council meeting the council approved a $250 contribution to the Manti High School annual celebration for graduating seniors. This year's party is scheduled for May 28, 2004. The activities will be centered on the Snow College Campus. The celebration will be designed to provide a safe atmosphere for students to have fun and not be subjected to some of the vices of the world.
