Trash Collection Guidelines
Manti City requests your assistance in making trash collection more.
Please follow these guidelines:
1. The amount of trash we generate is getting larger and it is necessary to start picking it up earlier. On collection day (Tuesday for the south part of town and Wednesday for the north), have the can out by 7:00 a.m. to insure that you don’t get missed.
2. Place the can so it sits on the edge of road adjacent to and touching the pavement, not on the pavement. The truck will not leave the pavement to pick up a can. The truck is heavy and could break away the edge of the pavement if it were to go off the pavement to pick up a can.
3. Leave at least 5-feet of space between cans or other objects. The automated pick-up arms need at least this much space.
4. Place the containers so the lid opens toward the street and the handles face away from the street.
5. Try to place all items inside the can. If anything extends above the top of the container, be sure it is vertical or facing away from the street. Items extending from the top of the can toward the street could interfere with the automated lift equipment on the truck. If this is the case, the can will not be picked up.
6. No double dipping please! Your trash collection cost is based on one can per week per residence. A second container can be provided at a reduced charge by contacting the city office.
7. Do not place these items in the trash containers: tires, dead animals, hot ashes, oil, anti-freeze, car parts, etc.
Manti City is investigating possible changes to the trash collection system. One possibility is to place all cans on the same side of the street. This would eliminate some of the traffic hazard posed by the cans being on the street (does not apply to Main Street) and would reduce the amount of travel for the collection truck. Would you be opposed to taking your can to the other side of the street? Give us your opinion on our opinion poll.
